CAPS SEASON COMES TO SUDDEN END
The 2009-10 Season came to a disappointing and sudden end for the Caps with a heart breaking 1-0 loss in the 3rd game of their best of 3 MFMHL semifinal with the Yellowhead Chiefs. The Caps had evened the series with an impressive 8-1 victory in Hamiota last Saturday after a tough 5-4 OT loss in Portage the night before that saw Yellowhead even the score with only 11 seconds remaining in the game.
Friday's contest saw the Caps lead throughout the contest only to lose in OT. Shaye Nelissen led the Caps with a hat-trick while Natasha Kostenko scored other Caps other goal. Jessica Hewko took the loss in net for the Caps facing 29 shots while the Caps fired 33 at the Chiefs net.  Kostenko also had an assist while Taylor McVannel picked up a pair of helpers with Alyson Vercaigne and Courtney Nichols adding singles.

In the second game of the series the Caps completely dominated the Chiefs scoring 2 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd and finishing with 3 in the 3rd period as they got a balanced attack with 8 players recording 2 points. Taylor McVannel had 2 goals while Callan Harland, Maggie Girard, Nikki Bell, Kostenko and Nelissen all had a goal and assist, Jordan Robertson and Jennifer Bell both recorded 2 helpers. Coutrney Nichol rounded out the Caps goal scoring.

Caps Shut Out and put out of MFMHL playoffs by Chiefs. The Caps fired 34 shots at the Yellowhead net but it was not enough as they could not muster one goal. The Chiefs scored midway through the 3rd period on losing Cap's goalie Jacey Schettler who stooped 32 shots but did not see the screen shot from the point that found the back of the net to end the Cap's season. With the goalie pulled the Caps had several very good chances to equalize but all night long just could not find their touch around the net.
