CAPS Take 3 of 4 points in MFMHL Play during trip to The Pas
The Caps did their northern road trip to The Pas for MFMHL play on Oct. 16-17 and came away with a win and a tie. The Caps dominated both games territorially and over the two games out shot their northern opponents 108 to 33. They did however have trouble beating the solid goaltending the Norman Wild duo of Kimi Kobar and Cassandra Hickes provided their team over the weekend.
The Caps started the weekend off with a 5-1 win in their first MFMHL game of the season and lead from start to finish. The Caps held period leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before scoring 3 in the third period to secure the win. Maggie Girard and Callan Harland led the Caps with a goal and an assist each while rookie D Megan Tully chipped in with 2 assists. Jillian Hoggins, Aly Vercaigne and Kailee Rutherford rounded out the scoring for the Caps. Stephanie Fehr and Jordan Robertson picked up an assist each.
Jacey Schettler was not busy in the Caps net but made 2-3 big saves when the game was still a 1 goal contest stopping15 of 16 shots fired her way. The caps peppered the Norman net with 57 shots.



Girard, Harland and Tully all record 2 points in 5-1 win vs. Norman Wild. Girard and Harland had 4 point weekend.
The Caps had a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd period vs. the Wild in game 2 in The Pas and despite firing 25 shots on goal in the thrid period alone and 51 for the game the Caps had to settle for a 3-3 tie.
Callan Harland and Maggie Girard again had a goal and an assist to lead Caps scorers with Jillene Rodgers also scoring. Courtney Nichol picked up 2 assists while single helpers were recorded by Taylor and Tamara NcVannel.
Netminder Shay Perry faced only 16 shots but several saves were huge at the time. The Rookie continues to develop at the Regional Level and is still needs to work on challeging the shooters and controlling her rebounds.
