CAPS SAY GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK TO GRADUATING PLAYERS

Callan Harland Maggie Girard Alyson Vercaigne Kelsey Desilets Jacey Schettler
The Caps lose forwards Captain Callan Harland, Assistant Captains Alyson Vercaigne and Maggie Girard, Kelsey Desilets and goalie Jacey Schettler. All have been solid 3 year players with the Caps and will be missed. The Caps wish all the best to these players who have played a significant role in taking the Caps Program to high level and assisted in making it an elite "AAA" hockey program.
Callan Harland - Captain - Callan is a true leader with a wonderful work ethic who made Team Manitoba this season and is the all-time leader in games played for the Caps at 141. Callan has been a team leader within the Caps having been an Assistant Captain last season and wearing the "C" this year. She leads by example and has a true desire to improve individually and as a teammate all in an effort to see the team succeed. Callan is one the best penalty killers the Caps have ever had and her strong 2-way play is an example for her teammates. Callan's positive attitude and high energy level keeps her teammates in the game and this along with her tremendous ability as a hockey player has made her a coaches dream to have on the team.
Maggie Girard - Assistant Captain - Maggie has been a tremendous offensive talent for the Caps and her ability to be creative with the puck makes her a constant threat to other teams. Maggie is respected by her teammates and her strong desire to be successful has assisted in the Caps posting 2 winning seasons in her 3 years with the Program. Maggie has never been satisfied with where she is at as a player and it has shown in her ability to improve her shot, skating and team play over the past 3 seasons. This desire to always improve is a huge reason Maggie has been an asset to the Caps Program plus why she made the Final 25 Camp for Team Manitoba. Maggie has great hockey sense and has the ability to make players around her better, this is something coaches cannot put a value on.
Alyson Vercaigne - Assistant Captain - Alyson is 2nd all-time in games played and has been a solid 2-way player for the Caps during the past 3 seasons. Alyson's skating ability along with physical strength and ability to play against the best players on the other team have made her a tremendous contributor to the Caps success. She plays a great positional game and understands how to play team defense and support her teammates. Alyson has a great shot and also contributes on an offensive level however has been willing to play a lesser role in this regard to be the player that shuts down the other teams best player. This type of unselfish contribution to the team is something coaches admire. Alyson's ability to play the game at a high level were recognized as she made the Final 40 for Team Manitoba.
Kelsey Desilets - Kelsey has been a very versatile and unselfish player for the Caps over the past 3 years. Asked to play Wing or Centre and a checking role Kelsey does whatever it takes to help out the team. One of the most under-rated players on the Caps she has consistently improved year after year due to strong work ethic and her coachability. She is a player who demonstrates and utilizes a strong knowledge of positional hockey to benefit the team. Unfortunately Kelsey has missed most of her graduating season to injury and was unable to finish the season. Her presence and contributions were missed both at practice and in games and both by her teammates and coaches.
Jacey Schettler - Jacey is the all-time leader in wins, shutouts, save % and GAA for Graduating Goaltenders in Caps history. Jacey has accomplished this even though she has probably missed close a year in playing time due to injury. She has shown incredible determination to overcome her set backs and be known as one the top goalies in the MFMHL. An athletic goalie who will make huge saves and can steal a game for a team she has provided the Caps with solid netminding for the past 3 seasons which is something the team lacked until Jacey arrived. Jacey's abilities were recognized when she was selected to the Final 25 Camp for Team Manitoba. A true team player she is an individual any coach would want on their team.
