January 2014 Robin Thiessen
The MFMHL GDI (Goaltender Development Institute) Goalie of the Month is Robin Thiessen of the Central Plains Capitals. Thiessen was undefeated during the month picking up 3 wins while recording a shutout, a save % of over .940 and a GGA of 1.67. Thiessen has been solid for the Capitals all season with a 9-4-3 record in MFMHL play with an overall record of 14-4-5. To date Thiessen is tied with the most shutouts in MFMHL play at 4 and has a total of 8 on the season.
December 2013 Elisha Oswald
The MFMHL GDI (Goaltender Development Institute) Goalie of the Month is Elisha Oswald of the Central Plains Capitals. Oswald has been almost perfect for the Capitals to date with a MFMHL record of 4-1-2 and overall record of 7-1-2 with a GAA of 1.55 and Save % of .928 while recording one shutout. Oswald who hails from Waldersee is in her third year with the Capitals and won the Capitals' Coaches Award in 2013 along with a second straight Academic Achievment Award. Oswald holds team records with the Capitals of most games played (77), wins (37), minutes played (4400) and shutouts (13).
MFMHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Week 13 Ending January 12, 2014 Emily Upgang
The MFMHL Selkirk Keystone Source for Sports-Reebok Player of the Week is Forward Emily Upgang of the Central Plains Capitals. Upgang scored the winning goal in both of the Capitals games as she netted 3 goals and added an assist for 4 points to help the Capitals sweep their two game series over the Norman Wild by scores of 6-1 and 2-1 in The Pas over the weekend. The first year midget has scored 10 goals and added 10 assists and is currently in the Top 10 in MFMHL scoring while for the season she third in team scoring with 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points with the Capitals.
Upgang is a grade 10 honour student who attends High School at Portage Collegiate Institute and has been selected to represent the Central Region at the 2014 Powersmart Manitoba Winter Games in March.

Week 11 Ending December 15, 2013 Sheridan Oswald
The MFMHL Selkirk Keystone Source for Sports-Reebok Player of the Week is Forward Sheridan Oswald of the Central Plains Capitals who scored 7 goals and added 2 assists for 9 points over the Capitals 3 games last week. Oswald a Grade 10 student who lives and attends high school in MacGregor started the week by scoring 4 goals and adding an assist in leading the Capitals to a 5-2 win over the Eastman Selects. The Capitals then tied the league leading Pembina Valley Hawks 3-3 as Oswald contributed a goal and an assist before netting 2 more goals in another 3-3 tie versus the Westman Wildcats. Oswald who was the youngest player on Hockey Manitoba's Program of Excellence U18 Team that attended Nationals in Calgary in November currently leads the Capitals in scoring with 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points in 22 games. Oswald an Assistant Captain for the Capitals is currently 4th in MFMHL scoring.
Week 2 Ending October 13, 2013 Courtlyn Oswald
Forward Courtlyn Oswald of the Central Plains Capitals is the MFMHL Selkirk Keystone Source for Sports - Reebok Player of the Week. Oswald the Capitals' Captain scored 3 goals and added 3 assists for 6 points to lead her team to 2 wins and a tie during the Capitals 3 games on the weekend. A third year midget who hails from MacGregor Oswald currently has 7 points in MFMHL play and 17 in total to help the Capitals to first place in the current MFMHL standings with a 3-0-1 record and an overall record of 9-0-2. Oswald was a MFMHL First Team All-star last season and for the second year in a row has made Hockey Manitoba's POE Team that will be participating at the U18 National Championships in Calgary from November 6-10, 2013.
