CAPITALS HAND OUT YEAR END AWARDS
The Female Capitals were part of the annual Central Plains Midget "AAA" Awards Banquet held at the Portage CanadInn on Thursday April 10th. The close to 180 in attendance were treated to great opening remarks by Darren Dalrymple, a super meal and then the entertaining Awards portion to the evening. For their segment the Female Caps who went second this year began with Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen addressing the crowd and talking about the success of the past season while saying thank you to the parents, sponsors, coaching staff and the players. Along with Assistant Coaches Richard Oswald and Rob McVannel the Team Awards as outlined below were handed out. From here a ten minute video presentation created by Allyson Stewart of the 2013-14 season was shown before the second year Capitals Hannah Dalrymple, Leandra Timmerman, Kantara Robertson and Tamara McVannel did speeches about and presented gifts to the graduating players Robin Thiessen, Elisha Oswald, Taylor Boehlig, Liz Stewart and Courtlyn Oswald. The Graduating Players then did Coaches speeches (or roasts) and presented them with gifts. This was followed by the coaches giving out year end gifts to the entire team. The Players and Coaches all received very nice travel bags with the team logo and their number or coach stitched in.

COURTLYN, LIZ, ELISHA, ROBIN AND TAYLOR
LOOKING FORWARD TO A SUPER 2014-15 SEASON!!!
Most Valuable Player - Courtlyn and Sheridan Oswald repeat as the MVP's for the Capitals after finishing 1-2 in team scoring for the season. Both Courtlyn and Sheridan were utilized to play big minutes for the Caps on the power play and penalty along with matching up with the other teams' top players. This was especially true when the Caps were suffering through one of the worse injury stretches in team history this season and the two forwards had to log double shifts for extended periods for over a month.

Best Defensive - Tamara McVannel - Tamara became an elite defender in the MFMHL this past season and was the backbone of a rebuilding and young Caps defense. She was the Top Offensive point getter on the backend being utilized at the top of the power play as well as playing huge PK minutes and being the shut down defense against the oppositions' best players.

Sportsmanship and Leadership - Courtlyn Oswald - Hannah Dalrymple - Liz Stewart - These 3 players earned the Sportsmanship and Leadership Award all by strongly contributing to the Caps in very different ways. Courtlyn Oswald the team Captain the past two seasons continued to lead with her hard work and dedication on and off the ice along with her high standard of performance. Hannah Dalrymple was a leader both on and off the ice with her total dedication to the Caps. An Alternate Captain Hannah battled through a bad injury for a large part of the year but was always there for the team and her teammates until she was able to return to on and off ice team activities. Once back at practices and games Hannah continued to lead with her tremendous energy and work ethic. Liz Stewart has been a leader for 3 years without an letter on her jersey for the Caps. Always positive and a great teammate it did not matter where the coaches asked her to play she did it with a smile. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude were always a true example for her teammates of what it means to be a Capital.

Most Improved Player - Sheyla Duncan - Sheyla earned the Most Improved Player Award by being willing to make the adjustments the coaches wanted from her plus work extremely hard throughout the season on the ice at practices and off during skills and dryland sessions. It meant Sheyla was given more and more minutes as the season progressed.

Coaches Award - Elisha Oswald and Robin Thiessen - the two graduating goaltenders for the Capitals have given their team a chance to win almost every night they stepped on the ice the past 2 seasons. They did it by both being talented puck stoppers along with possessing strong work ethic to continually improve and their unbelievable support for each other making it a coaches dream. With a combined GGA of 1.49 and save % of .930 the past two seasons to go along with being such great teammates it has made it easy for the coaching staff to fill out the game sheet game after game at this important position.
