CAPS DEFEAT NORMAN WILD

Natasha Kostenko had a hat trick while Maggie Girard, Alyson Vercaigne and first year player Kelsey Desilts with her first goal of the year scored in a Caps 6-1 victory over the visiting Norman Wild.
The Caps domintaed play outshooting their opponent from the north 53-4 but the Wild who trailed 4-1 after the 1st kept the Caps off the score sheet in the 2nd period. The Caps notched 2 - 3rd period goals to close out the scoring. The Caps jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in  the Game but the Wild tied the score 5 minutes into the 1st. Although outshot the Wild played a very competitive game and made the Caps earn the win. Norman's young AP Goalie Kimberly Kobar was very good in the Wild net facing over 50 shots.
Caps next Game Action is in the Saskatoon Tournament from Jan. 28-31 where they face some of the best competition in Western Canada.

CAPS TIE YELLOWHEAD CHIEFS IN MFMHL PLAY
The Caps travelled to Hamiota for a league game vs. the Chiefs on Friday Jan. 22 and came away with a hard fought 3-3 tie on the road. The Caps played a solid road game outshooting their hosts 41-30 however were unable to hang on to a 3-2 third period lead.
Jacey Schettler was solid in net for the Caps stopping 27 of 30 shots fired her way while making some huge saves in the 2nd period when the Caps were actually outshot 15-10.
Shaye Nelissen led the offense for the Caps scoring twice with the other marker being scored by team leader in goals Natasha Kostenko who notched her 31st of the year to go along with an assist for a 2 point night. Kostenko now leads the team with 44 points while Nelissen is second with 38 from her defence position. Taylor McVannel picked up the only other assist and sits 3rd on the team with 31 points.
The Caps face Norman in an MFMHL tilt Saturday Jan. 23 @ the Portage Centeenial Arena - Game time is 7:15.
